Abraham Was No Monotheist -  I

One of the hallmarks of Judaism, Christianity and the other middle eastern religion is their claim to be Abraham-based and monotheistic. As the words ‘mono’ and ‘theist’ suggest, these faiths according to one creed believe in “one God, the creator of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible”. The present writer grew up believing and was trained in such monotheism. However, he has now found overwhelming evidence against it.

A series of incidents caused him to question this, apart from the fact that for years he has been aware of ten Creator Eluhiym and three serpent-and-dragon Eluhiym called by that pagan name ‘God’. FIMIOLs abound on Earth’s landscapes affirming thirteen such Beings do exist.

The first is Exodus 6:2-3 where “Eluhiym spoke to Mosheh (Moses) and said to him, ‘I AM Yahuw’ah. And I appeared to Abraham, to Yitschaq (Isaac) and to Ya’aqob (Jacob) as El Shadday (pron. ale shad-dye), and by My name Yahuw’ah I did not reveal Myself to them.”

What a surprise it was to read that. Scripture is like this. One sees, yet does not see (Matthew 13:13). Who sees the “beholding the Son” in John 6:40 as necessary for one’s salvation, like circumcision? How many believers have actually seen, not imagined, the enthroned Lamb of Eluhiym, the one like a Son of Man with the head of a lamb, His head and hairs white as wool, white as snow, having seven eyes and seven small horns on His head (Revelation 1:14, 5:6)? His FIMIOL is on the home page. Jesus Christ looks nothing like Him. Who is he anyway?

It is a legitimate question to ask who inserted all those YHWHs in the Hebrew text? When did this happen and why?

The second incident is the use of the name El Elyown or El Most High. The king of Sodom, who evidently knew that El Shadday and El Elyown were one and the same, told Abram, “I have lifted up my hand to Yahuw'ah, El Elyown, Possessor of Heaven and Earth.” And then Abraham looked at him strangely and asked, “what are you talking about? Who is this Yahuw’ah and that strange El Elyown, Possessor of Heaven and Earth, when El Shadday never talks to me this way?”

Then it dawned on the present writer that El Shadday and El Elyown are two different Eluw’ah. Fancy that. Two El(s) and they talk of monotheism.

The third incident involved Joshua 24:2. “And Yehoshua said to all the people, ‘Thus says Yahuw’ah, Eluhiym of Yisra’el, in the past your fathers lived Beyond the River —  Terach the father of Abraham and father of Nahor —  and they served other Eluhiym. And I took your father Abraham from Beyond the River and caused him to go through all the land of Cana’an and multiplied his seed and gave to him Yitschaq.’”

When one thinks of “other eluhiym” Exodus 20:3 may come to mind. “There shall not be to you any other eluhiym besides Me.” For decades this author had believed that Terach and his family worshipped idols. Now he understands Joshua 24:2 to mean “others within the family of Eluhiym.”

These include Yeshuwa, the Dove Tor who descended upon Him at His baptism (He was present in Noach’s ark and caused the planet to rotate in Genesis 1:2), along with the promised Spirit of Truth or Counsellor Yahbeth, Mowsiyah and the others as well.

*RA stands for Re’eh Adonay or “friend of the Lord” (John 15:14-16). It is the best qualification.

So if Abraham, Yitschaq and Ya’aqob knew Him mainly as El Shadday, then why is He named as such only once in the entire Abraham narrative (Genesis 17:1)?
